Gleaners Harvest Moon Gala

Humbling. Exciting. Fast. VIP. These are just a few words that come to mind when I think about the experience that my wife, Jenny, and I had at the Gleaners Food Bank Harvest Moon Gala.

Humbling; this feeling started when we first volunteered at Gleaners and heard the stories of children and families who struggle to put food on the table. This is something I have never had to experience and it puts a new perspective on how lucky I have it. I don’t have to worry about eating. At the Gala, you look around at the celebrities that are there, the CEO’s and all the people dressed in their best and it becomes very humbling that we are all here to have a great time when in fact the people that we are really here for are at home hoping to figure out where their next meal will come from. Thank God for places like Gleaners that makes that hope a reality!

As an employee of Royal United Mortgage LLC, Jenny and I had the privilege to be a VIP at the Gala along with several of my colleagues! As a VIP, I was able check off a bucket list item; ride in an IndyCar! We didn’t go Fittipaldi fast, but we definitely pulled some G-forces making some hairpin turns (I’m pretty sure my driver ran a couple of stop signs). Now that I’ve checked it off my list, I will not do it ever again; I don’t have the ideal IndyCar driver body type and they didn’t customize the car and seat for me! Nevertheless, it was worth it.

Thank you to Gleaners for giving the Royal United Mortgage LLC team, including my wife and I, the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, to make an impact in our community and for a great night out!
