Royal United Mortgage LLC Supports Youth Robotics Team
The TechnoKats are one of the original FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics teams and are also part of the HoCoRoCo (Howard County Robotics Coalition). This year Royal United Mortgage LLC is a proud sponsor for this Kokomo High School team. The team consists of mentors, coaches, and 45 students, who are currently working to develop, create, test, and program a competitive robot.
The robotics team has participated in the FIRST Robotics Competition since its inception in 1992. FIRST focuses on inspiring students in math, science, and technology fields through sponsoring a worldwide robotics competition. Many students and adults get very excited about competing in this challenging and fun atmosphere.
The TechnoKats 2016 open house was on Saturday February 27th. Royal United Mortgage LLC employees and their families visited the workshop to view all of the robots and awards from past years, plus see this year’s robot in action. They even had the opportunity to drive it!
The TechnoKats robotics team has a strong tradition of competing at a high level in FIRST while also being a model team in showing “gracious professionalism” as it competes. This was certainly the case at the open house this weekend where the students greeted guests, gave tours, displayed their work, and demonstrated the robot they are currently working on.
