Schaumburg Cycling for Life

September 26, 2017 by Royal United

Recently, four members of the Schaumburg branch took to the streets and rode their bikes 12.5 miles in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. As a team, they raised $4,900.01 (Every penny counts!) to contribute to the foundation.

“This was such a fun event and I am so thankful to work for a company that puts an emphasis on community outreach.  Four of us rode in the event and it was a beautiful day to ride in the Chicago suburban countryside. I personally raised $2,725.01 from friends, family and even some coworkers! I felt so accomplished when I crossed the finish line and because of this event have taken up biking as a hobby! Fun times!” – Caitlin Thorsen, Corporate Training Manager

“One of my most favorite things about working at Royal United Mortgage LLC is how often we get the opportunity to give back to the community through volunteering. Our most recent event was the Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life and it was a BLAST. Not only did I enjoy a 12-mile bike ride out in the beautiful rural suburbs on a gorgeous sunny day alongside my coworkers (dare I say friends?!), we were also able to raise money towards a great cause. Cystic Fibrosis affects many families, including at least 1 person here at Royal United Mortgage LLC, and I’m proud to say I helped fundraise for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. A few of my family members were also able to donate! This made me feel even more proud to participate; this particular event extended our outreach beyond the walls of our office. I look forward to more events like this: fundraising towards a great cause, helping others, enjoying sights and sounds of nature while getting a little exercise along the way… what’s not to love?” – Vanessa Norman, Loan Advisor

Cystic Fibrosis“The Cystic Fibrosis ride was a BLAST! The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation makes sure that 90% of the proceeds they raise go toward research and development of treatments for Cystic Fibrosis. The most amazing part of that was riding with people living with Cystic Fibrosis. The treatments are time-consuming and tough, to see individuals with Cystic Fibrosis out on the trail was a huge motivator! It was a great way to spend a little time with your coworkers, raise some money for a good cause, and make sure you still know how to ride a bike!” – Alison Levar, Lending Team Leader

There are over 30,000 people living with Cystic Fibrosis in the United States.  While great strides have been made we still have work to do!
