Spring cleaning is a great opportunity to refresh your home after it sat closed off and insulated for the winter months. While it might come naturally to some, the thought of tidying a year of clutter can be daunting to others.

To start, get organized.

  • Assess your project and figure out exactly what needs to be done. Does your entire home need your attention or do you plan on focusing on only certain rooms in the house?
  • Take inventory of the cleaning supplies you have and make note of the things you’ll need to purchase to get the job done. Purchase needed items ahead of time to make the day of cleaning a breeze.
  • Once you’ve figured out what parts of your home need cleaning, block off time on your calendar. If you’ve selected only a few rooms in your home that need cleaning, a single day will suffice. For a full-house cleaning, you might consider blocking off an entire weekend to distribute the tasks across multiple days.

On the day of, get in the zone and make it fun for yourself. Light a candle, turn on your favorite playlist, and get to work. This is the perfect opportunity to rid your home of the “clutter” you CAN live without. A year’s worth of stuff taking up space and collecting dust really does affect your emotional and physical health. Set a goal to fill as many trash bags as you can with items your family has outgrown or no longer uses. You’ll be able to feel the benefits of rooms and spaces that can breathe.

You most likely know the problem areas in your home and are able to keep track of them in your head but having a checklist handy can make the process even smoother. The satisfaction of physically checking items off your list can help to motivate you to finish cleaning every single square-foot of your home. To make things easy, we’ve created a Spring Cleaning Check-List for you to follow.

Spring Cleaning Checklist 01After you’ve completed your Spring-cleaning checklist, reward yourself! Give yourself a pat on the back and indulge.
